Sometimes, for fun, I look at Air B&B listings. I found this:

I think if you click the photo you can see many images of the Hobbit House for rent in Scotland. That house has a little hobbit... gazebo? Patio? And I guess it's behind the hosts' house, but not very near it. There's a path, also pictured.

Fountain!

I can't tell where the family lives, but would guess California or Arizona, based on a couple of photos. I could be wrong.

Karl and the dirt from a hole

Just yesterday I brought up the riddle about how much dirt one can take out of a hole (none, because a hole doesn't have any dirt), and now I see how much dirt is not in this particular hole!




That's what the dirt near Rotherfield, East Sussex looks like. This wheelbarrow has appeared before, and the image was sent by Janine Davies.

Garden Art, Scotland

Pamela Grace is an artist in Scotland, making pen and watercolor images of gardens, old greenhouses, gates, laundry lines hung between apple trees—beautiful things. Her site is a comfort to visit.


Wheelbarrow Washing


September in the Walled Garden

My friend Brie found and sent the first wheelbarrow. I found the other two as I relaxed into the collection. (It might be that same first green one and a companion wheelbarrow, in the second piece.)

There are several places on the site where the artist describes her process and methods. She is mixing her own inks, so that even the inked layer is not monochromatic.

I make a range of limited-edition original prints using solar-plate etching techniques . I use traditional oil-based inks mixing blues and burnt umber to create individual dark tones which are both strong and subtle. I print on to high quality traditional printing papers. Some prints I hand-colour with watercolour.

I don't think that much could thrive in a wheelbarrow in New Mexico. It's beautiful.

Quietly in California

Wheelbarrows from from Horsley near Nailsworth, Stroud, England

One greeting visitors on the approach path to 'Sunflower Cottage' (home to some very good friends of ours.) and one a working wheelbarrow that was originally purchased as a fun wheel chair for their middle son who broke his thigh bone!

He is all fit and well now, and skateboards and cycles and runs like the wind.

I've added the tag "human transport" now, because there are others. The Chinese wheelbarrow photo, Dutch postcard, drunk removal from a painting in Pasadena, and maybe others. I'll go back and label those, too.
