Traditional Korean farmyard

From the kdrama "My Liberation Notes," episode 5, the front yard of a farmhouse. The low table is called a pyeong-sang (flat table), and it's used as a room, in that people leave their shoes on the ground. Sometimes a small table is put in the middle (for food or drinks), or sometimes it's just for sitting, or lounging.

There are other Korean-looking things, and the wheelbarrow is probably generic, rather than local. But I've seen more plastic (rather than steel) pans lately, and this one has a steel brace in the front, rising from the axle, to strengthen the part that might be holding the most weight when the wheelbarrow is in motion.

Two on a truck

From a Korean drama called "Mouse," Episode 16, made in 2021.

At first I thought it was one wheelbarrow up on a wall, in a construction zone, which didn't make sense to me, but it's on a truck with a side that hinges up, like a pickup tailgate in the U.S. Nice truck! Two wheelbarrows.

In a South Korean drama, North Korea was depicted. This little wheelbarrow scenario was designed to help suggest poverty, farm animals, and lack of knot-tying ability, I guess.

Cinematic focus

This is an image of a wheelbarrow.

In this field of "junk" (some of it artfully arranged; not all), the wheelbarrow is framed by that laundry, looking like prayer flags, and the camera angle allows for the (unusually straight) line of the bottom of the hanging laundry to be clear of the parallel edge of the wheelbarrow, so sky shows through.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn there were lights inside the wheelbarrow. The sky is very overcast, but it seems there's light shining through the color.

The scene is about the guy sitting over there on the the side, but the focus of this image is that wheelbarrow.



Also there are lots of pairs of things there—two, and not three, of several items, often close and matching, but in the case of the tables, separate and mismatched; still two. The colors are red, white and blue, and the wheelbarrow is more orange than the other reds.

Korean dramas have some very high-quality cinematography. This is from The King—Eternal Monarch, first episode.

Spooky Korean Drama Set Dressing

I don't know how set up it was, or how somewhat-candid, but in a dark and tense scene, portraying a dangerous construction area, it helps show that, and there's a bit of color in an otherwise way-dark scene.

Very often in cinema a wheelbarrow is used to represent lots of work, or quickly abandoned work, or to-be-continued work.
Probably in real-life, too. :-)

Pride and Prejudice, BBC wheelbarrow

Elizabeth goes for a walk with Wickham and they totally ignore a great wooden wheelbarrow with legs/posts on the outside, separate from the handles.

Barrow, no legs

Elsewhere on this Robin Hood series there was a barrow with two short legs. They carried armor in it.

This is a different one, or perhaps the same one (prop) used in one show, and legs added to one end of it later.

Wheelbarrow in The Fields of Evermore

Knights of Badassdom has a wheelbarrow, to show setting-up the site, moving in to "Evermore," and to show mundanity (modern wheelbarrow in a medieval fantasy setting).



This movie, by the way, is not the light comedy that the trailers make it out to be. There is comic relief, because it's needed. Don't watch it with very young or squeamish people. But the funny stuff is fun, for anyone who's been involved in LARP situations.
