Allotment wheelbarrows, real and imagined

Now I want to know what "hard rubbish" is in American. Junk pile? They're not being thrown out, are they!?

Jo Isaac:

They are being thrown out! Each year in January, the council will come and take anything you don't want to pay to go to the tip for free. So at the moment, each house has a big pile of stuff out front!

I kind of want to take them as planters for my garden!

A small load of large firewood

When this photo arrived from Bruno Venturini Machado, I commented "Whose is it and where? How is someone going to split that wood in Lisbon without risking breaking tile or windows? Car windows and houses? 🙂"

Bruno said they weren't in Lisbon, they were at a farm in the north of Portugal. So there! Safe to split wood. The trees in New Mexico don't make wood like that! I love the small diffences between places.

Muddy wheelbarrow in very clean truck

Here's some Albuquerque contrast for today. The truck is maximally clean. The wheelbarrow, not.

The truck and wheelbarrow are the same colors as the sky and trees!

Our wheelbarrow, our back yard

My back gates (one remote controlled for cars, and a wooden one for foot traffic), and the wheelbarrow, standing, viewed from behind an old Dodge pickup we don't have anymore. It had holes in the sides of the bed for 2x2 or steel pipe, so people could put a cattle rack, or staves (as there is one, there, to the left). And the broom is stuck in one of those holes right behind the cab. There was usually a pitchfork in the other behind-cab hole. It made the truck intimidating.

But here, it's being a frame for a (candid) wheelbarrow portrait.



The front of the house is 2905 Tahiti Ct. in Albuquerque, but the back gate looks out toward Juan Tabo (across a parking lot between Fastino's and Discount Tire).

A basketmaker in Baud (his wheelbarrow)

In 2011 I stayed with Helene McNeill in Baud (In Bretagne, in France). Her neighbor (and the owner of the house she was renting) made baskets, and apple cider. Here is his wheelbarrow, and one of his baskets:

Mystery thing

We were very surprised by this wheelbarrow, abandoned it would seem, under a large tree in a wooded area of the Millennium Green in Rotherfield. It was so unexpected to find it there, it was far from anywhere it could have been working, but on reflection we decided some children had probably brought it there for play. 😊

We were in Seabrook, New Hampshire yesterday and came across this wheelbarrow (and its shadow :-)) parked at the side of a dirt road that extends out into a marsh where many, many swallows, House Sparrows, and some Purple Martins nest.
