Greeting cards

Wheelbarrows are good objects for art or photos. I went looking for more of some cards I only have 36 of thinking, I might use them for Christmas next year. I found lots of other cards; not those.

1 - 72 of 1,649 wheelbarrow greeting cards for sale

Over 1600 with wheelbarrows, at one site. If you feel like looking at photos there, here are a couple I liked:

Mural of produce, image of wheelbarrow

Laurie McPherson saw this on a New Mexico gardening page on facebook and sent it to me. I'm in New Mexico, too. But the art and artist are in England.

Good gourd almighty! Stunning seasonal display of pumpkins and squashes set to wow the crowds

That was the replacement title for what's in the URL, it seems, which was the more staid "Halloween 2011, Pumpkin squash display wows crowds. Slindon, West Sussex."

Goat tied to a wheelbarrow... I'll tell you why

In a South Korean drama, North Korea was depicted. This little wheelbarrow scenario was designed to help suggest poverty, farm animals, and lack of knot-tying ability, I guess.

Heating a (small) pool, with a wheelbarrow

Medieval, with flowers, painted

"Virgin and Child on a Crescent Moon in the Rothschild Prayerbook, c. 1500–1520" is the description of the lefthand page, and that is by Gerard David, who may or may not have done the wheelbarrow on the next page.

Green chile harvest time in New Mexico!

Photos were forwarded by Laurie McPherson. The wheelbarrow photo is by Liddie Martinez, of Española.

Allotment wheelbarrows, real and imagined

The logo of an allotment society. Janine Davies sent it.

Their whole site with the Covid-19 rules is pretty interesting:

Photos Janine took:

Hobbit House Wheelbarrow

Sometimes, for fun, I look at Air B&B listings. I found this:
Help yourself to seasonal products from our polytunnel

I think if you click the photo you can see many images of the Hobbit House for rent in Scotland. That house has a little hobbit... gazebo? Patio? And I guess it's behind the hosts' house, but not very near it. There's a path, also pictured.

Hobbit Hideaway - A wee slice of Scottish paradise

But the important thing is there's a wheelbarrow. :-)

Fountain!

"I wanted to share this wheelbarrow water fountain that my husband took upon himself to build. I did NOT ask him to do this! It was something he saw one day while he was out working. He took a picture and decided to build it! I love when he does things to beautify without me asking."

That's the quote from a blogpost sent to me by Lisa Cottrell-Bentley.

The title of that was:

A SUMMER PROJECT

Update: Super excited to share that this project was featured in Country Sampler Special Gardens Issue!!!

I can't tell where the family lives, but would guess California or Arizona, based on a couple of photos. I could be wrong.

Cinematic focus

This is an image of a wheelbarrow.

In this field of "junk" (some of it artfully arranged; not all), the wheelbarrow is framed by that laundry, looking like prayer flags, and the camera angle allows for the (unusually straight) line of the bottom of the hanging laundry to be clear of the parallel edge of the wheelbarrow, so sky shows through.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn there were lights inside the wheelbarrow. The sky is very overcast, but it seems there's light shining through the color.

The scene is about the guy sitting over there on the the side, but the focus of this image is that wheelbarrow.

Also there are lots of pairs of things there—two, and not three, of several items, often close and matching, but in the case of the tables, separate and mismatched; still two. The colors are red, white and blue, and the wheelbarrow is more orange than the other reds.

Korean dramas have some very high-quality cinematography. This is from The King—Eternal Monarch, first episode.

Boggy Creek Farm, Texas

Someone sent me the wheelbarrow image at left. I didn't know where it was, but it was easily discovered.

It's what's left of a large farm from the early 19th century, and they have restored the farmhouse, which is one of the two oldest houses remaining in Austin, Texas. You can read more on their website, and also see what they are growing, and what they have for sale, in case you're in, near, or passing through Austin!

Boggy Creek Farm History

It's currently five acres, surrounded by residential homes, and there are bus stops.

Karl and the dirt from a hole

Just yesterday I brought up the riddle about how much dirt one can take out of a hole (none, because a hole doesn't have any dirt), and now I see how much dirt is not in this particular hole!

That's what the dirt near Rotherfield, East Sussex looks like. This wheelbarrow has appeared before, and the image was sent by Janine Davies.

Riding... driving... kind of a chariot

I don't know how to share from IMGUR, but this is worth going to see, if I don't figure out a way to get the video in here.

A guy has put a wheeled platform... trailer... behind, to stand on, and motorized a wheelbarrow. It begins at a gas pump, and then off he goes.

There are some comments there, and will eventually be more, so don't depend on this post to get in on the joy of spectating there. :-)

Garden Art, Scotland

Pamela Grace is an artist in Scotland, making pen and watercolor images of gardens, old greenhouses, gates, laundry lines hung between apple trees—beautiful things. Her site is a comfort to visit.

Wheelbarrow Washing

September in the Walled Garden

My friend Brie found and sent the first wheelbarrow. I found the other two as I relaxed into the collection. (It might be that same first green one and a companion wheelbarrow, in the second piece.)

There are several places on the site where the artist describes her process and methods. She is mixing her own inks, so that even the inked layer is not monochromatic.
I make a range of limited-edition original prints using solar-plate etching techniques . I use traditional oil-based inks mixing blues and burnt umber to create individual dark tones which are both strong and subtle. I print on to high quality traditional printing papers. Some prints I hand-colour with watercolour.

Please visit her site: http://www.pamelagrace.co.uk/
Her art is displayed variously in Dumfries and Galloway, where she lives, and has shown elsewhere.

Sunny Spain

Ester Siroky posted this; I snagged it. They're in Spain.

I had already posted what's above, and came upon Part B. Perhaps it's still cold, at night, in sunny Spain!

A wheelbarrow in Bananaland

From "Journey to Bananaland," with Paul Rubens, from The Jimmy Kimmel Show.

I know I usually just show the wheelbarrow and let you go on with your business, but this one leads to "the movie," which leads to the actual original.

It's short but potentially offensive. I'll rate it R for [stupid cartoonish] violence, and sexual innuendo. PG, depending on the kids.

I first saw it on a flashback from another Jimmy Kimmel episode, about the 35th anniversary of the Tim Burton film "Peewee's Big Adventure," in 2020, here.

You can see the original documentary, without Paul Rubens, from 1950, at the internet archive. It's a little over 20 minutes long.

https://archive.org/details/2094_Journey_To_Bananaland

"Bananaland" is described as being Mexico, through central America to Colombia, and some Caribbean nations. Because Honduras is marked darker than the rest, that's where I'm going to locate that wheelbarrow. It's a guess.

If anyone spots another wheelbarrow in there, please leave a note with the time (minutes/seconds) in there, or send me a note on facebook or by e-mail, Sandra@sandradodd.com

German collection of wheelbarrow re-purposing ideas

18 coole Schubkarre Repurposing Ideen für wunderschöne Haus und Garten-Dekor

I found this in German, but it might originally have been in English, or at least some of it. Or the ideas might be from all around. The house number shows part of an American flag, coinciedentally, in the background.

Click the link above to get to those images, but two purposes there have been reported here, too—the firepit, and the sand box. And the planter ideas are everywhere; the world and this blog are full of them. It's a beautiful re-use.

These two images are from this blog (and they're links), but the other images are at the article I've linked.

The horse and dog are pretty artsy. I know the man. But clearly this is a photo of a wheelbarrow.
