Greeting cards

Wheelbarrows are good objects for art or photos. I went looking for more of some cards I only have 36 of thinking, I might use them for Christmas next year. I found lots of other cards; not those.

I think if you click the photo you can see many images of the Hobbit House for rent in Scotland. That house has a little hobbit... gazebo? Patio? And I guess it's behind the hosts' house, but not very near it. There's a path, also pictured.

I can't tell where the family lives, but would guess California or Arizona, based on a couple of photos. I could be wrong.

Cinematic focus

This is an image of a wheelbarrow.

In this field of "junk" (some of it artfully arranged; not all), the wheelbarrow is framed by that laundry, looking like prayer flags, and the camera angle allows for the (unusually straight) line of the bottom of the hanging laundry to be clear of the parallel edge of the wheelbarrow, so sky shows through.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn there were lights inside the wheelbarrow. The sky is very overcast, but it seems there's light shining through the color.

The scene is about the guy sitting over there on the the side, but the focus of this image is that wheelbarrow.



Also there are lots of pairs of things there—two, and not three, of several items, often close and matching, but in the case of the tables, separate and mismatched; still two. The colors are red, white and blue, and the wheelbarrow is more orange than the other reds.

Korean dramas have some very high-quality cinematography. This is from The King—Eternal Monarch, first episode.

Boggy Creek Farm, Texas

Someone sent me the wheelbarrow image at left. I didn't know where it was, but it was easily discovered. It's what's left of a large farm from the early 19th century, and they have restored the farmhouse, which is one of the two oldest houses remaining in Austin, Texas. You can read more on their website, and also see what they are growing, and what they have for sale, in case you're in, near, or passing through Austin! Just yesterday I brought up the riddle about how much dirt one can take out of a hole (none, because a hole doesn't have any dirt), and now I see how much dirt is not in this particular hole!




That's what the dirt near Rotherfield, East Sussex looks like. This wheelbarrow has appeared before, and the image was sent by Janine Davies.

A guy has put a wheeled platform... trailer... behind, to stand on, and motorized a wheelbarrow. It begins at a gas pump, and then off he goes.

Garden Art, Scotland

Pamela Grace is an artist in Scotland, making pen and watercolor images of gardens, old greenhouses, gates, laundry lines hung between apple trees—beautiful things. Her site is a comfort to visit.


Wheelbarrow Washing


September in the Walled Garden

My friend Brie found and sent the first wheelbarrow. I found the other two as I relaxed into the collection. (It might be that same first green one and a companion wheelbarrow, in the second piece.)

There are several places on the site where the artist describes her process and methods. She is mixing her own inks, so that even the inked layer is not monochromatic.

I make a range of limited-edition original prints using solar-plate etching techniques . I use traditional oil-based inks mixing blues and burnt umber to create individual dark tones which are both strong and subtle. I print on to high quality traditional printing papers. Some prints I hand-colour with watercolour.

A wheelbarrow in Bananaland

I know I usually just show the wheelbarrow and let you go on with your business, but this one leads to "the movie," which leads to the actual original.

It's short but potentially offensive. I'll rate it R for [stupid cartoonish] violence, and sexual innuendo. PG, depending on the kids.

"Bananaland" is described as being Mexico, through central America to Colombia, and some Caribbean nations. Because Honduras is marked darker than the rest, that's where I'm going to locate that wheelbarrow. It's a guess.

I found this in German, but it might originally have been in English, or at least some of it. Or the ideas might be from all around. The house number shows part of an American flag, coinciedentally, in the background.
