So many wheelbarrows hard at work at Wilderness Wood yesterday! Mainly leaf collecting and transporting, and natural Xmas decorations too. I particularly like the wheelbarrow with Holly in it. 😊

I’m so glad you collect wheelbarrows. The kids at Friday Club really enjoyed listening to why I was taking pictures of wheelbarrows. They totally got the learning to be had from collecting them. It really appealed to them. 😊

It seems the legs and bucket are metal, but the rest is wood.
Wheelbarrows are often used to represent hard work, in photos and videos.

Well thanks for the wheelbarrow! They won't be able to use wheelbarrows to ship their stuff "worldwide." I wonder which internationall shipping company they think is going to carry their stuff reliably through customs to all those other countries!? :-) People can't legally mail it from Colorado to Oregon. I don't know how UPS or FedEx feel about it.

OH, I read the article. Canadians will be importing shipping containers of the stuff. I wonder if the Chihuahuan druglords will send out some speedboats? Poor landlocked Chihuahua...

So I looked him up and he's a Rabbi in Texas.
Marijuana isn't legal in Texas in any form. Not federally, not in the state. They may be moving toward limited medical uses, which is peachy keen, but at the moment, no.

I had been joking with Laurie about a wheelbarrow, and the Mexican drug lords south of New Mexico, in Chihuahua. I didn't mean to disturb the Texas/Israeli peace.

I didn't expect to be seen as closed minded for joking about mail, shipping companies, and pirates from Chihuahua.

I don't know if that's marijuana in the wheelbarrow. For purposes of this blog, what it is is a wheelbarrow.

Gloucester Docks Museum

Cath GB brought this photo. When she told me where it was, I wrote, "Makes sense! It's not for carrying loose stuff (dirt). So it's for carrying sacks of stuff, or boxes of stuff—packaged goods. Nice." Looks like the wheel is cast iron, or steel. And the axle is bolted onto the wooden forks. So it looks small, but it would be strong. I went to find the museum. Yarn-bombed wheelbarrow

Sandra, I thought of you today when we spotted this colourful yarnbombed wheelbarrow at the Court Garden in Holt, Wiltshire (a national trust property). Happy to add it to your collection!

There's even is a hedgehog under it, knitted of course.

Bo King sketched a wheelbarrow

Years ago, Bo King "did a worksheet." Bo is a friend of my kids (of our family), and used to sit at our house and draw. He drew everywhere, but when he was here, I got to watch. I loved this, and the wheelbarrow is in the upper right, partway between the first wheel and the jet engine.

Two innies and an outie

Nancy Calhoun, of Stanley, New Mexico, has shared her three wheelbarrows. All are holding art today. Two are small and indoors. One is an full-sized outdoors wheelbarrow holding an exotic item used (we hear) by oceangoing fishermen. Stanley is about 850 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and about that, I think, from the Pacific. So a glass float is a thing of safe, dry, desert beauty.

A basketmaker in Baud (his wheelbarrow)

In 2011 I stayed with Helene McNeill in Baud (In Bretagne, in France). Her neighbor (and the owner of the house she was renting) made baskets, and apple cider. Here is his wheelbarrow, and one of his baskets:

Hunting eggs

This is the first Easter Janine and Karl have lived in the country. A basket might have sufficed, when they lived in the city, but Kes needed a wheelbarrow to bring back all the eggs and gifts from the meadow!

The Kings Arms wheelbarrow

So here's how we learn things from a wheelbarrow collection. Here is The Gold Lion's wheelbarrow, which I photographed in 2013, near Winchester, in Hampshire. Pubs have wheelbarrows. I don't suppose ALL *must* have them, but some do. Lots might. In the U.S., I don't think bars have wheelbarrows, nor even rural honky-tonks in the south. So if it comes up in conversation, the difference between a pub and a bar, consider the wheelbarrow factor.
